One Civil Engineer, Olayinka Pelumi, 28, was on Wednesday docked in an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan for allegedly selling another person’s building worth N5.5million.
Pelumi, whose residential address was not provided, was charged with fraudulently dispossessing trusted property, theft, obtaining money under false pretence and conduct likely to cause breach of peace.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Philip Amusan told the court that Pelumi allegedly committed the offence between Sept. 2020 and March 2022, at about 7. 00 a.m, around Soka Area in Ibadan.
Amusan alleged that the defendant sold the four bedroom flat building entrusted under his construction without the owner’s consent.
He alleged that Pelumi conducted himself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by selling the building belonging to one 25-year-old Adewale Afeez.
According to Amusan, the offence contravened Sections 434, 419, 249(d) and 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The defendant however pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Magistrate, Mr I. O Olanipekun granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two reliable sureties in like sum.
He thereafter adjourned the case until Feb. 13, 2024 for hearing. (NAN)
