The Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has vowed to make the state inhabitable for criminals, given the recurrence of security incidents in the state.
The governor disclosed this after a security meeting that was held in the Edo North area of the state.The meeting at the country home of Senator Adams Oshiomhole featured political, religious, and traditional leaders as well as heads of security agencies in the state.

The meeting took place amid reports of recurring kidnapping incidents in the state, along with concerns about potential reprisals for the brutal killing of hunters by Edo vigilantes in March. However, the governor said, “Under my watch, criminal elements will not succeed in destabilising Edo State. I will deal with them decisively and make the state inhabitable for their activities.” He stated that the peaceful discussion is expected to improve the security situation and reduce the tension in the state. The governor noted that the “perfect discussion” during the meeting would be “perfect in our land”, while assuring them to look out for change soon. On his part, Oshiomhole expressed his confidence in the governor’s ability to enhance the security conditions in the state. He said, “Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has come to Edo North to discuss with the people what he has been doing and what he will do in terms of the security of lives and property in Edo State. “The people have expressed their confidence in the governor. They have reaffirmed their loyalty and commitment to work together with the security agencies so that Afenmai land will be safe,” he said. During the meeting, a traditional ruler in the area, HRH Ali Suleiman, stated that the security meeting had instilled confidence among stakeholders. He noted that traditional rulers had resolved to work with security agencies and other stakeholders to ensure peace in Edo.")
