Amawbia, Anambra State – April 10, 2025
In a bold step to drive economic growth, strengthen security, and modernize healthcare and education in Anambra State, Governor Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo has signed six new bills into law.
The signing ceremony was held at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia, with key officials in attendance, including the Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, the House Majority Leader, Hon. Ikenna Ofodeme, and other top government functionaries.
According to the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Christian Aburime, the newly signed laws reflect the administration's commitment to laying a solid legal framework for development, investment, and public welfare.
Among the newly enacted laws is the Anambra State Development and Investment Corporation Law, 2025, which seeks to create a more robust and investor-friendly environment. Another milestone is the Anambra State Electricity Law, 2025, which is expected to address energy challenges and pave the way for improved power supply across the state.
Also signed into law is the Anambra State Homeland Security (Amendment) Law, 2025, aimed at enhancing internal security and response systems.
In the area of healthcare, the Governor endorsed two key laws: the Anambra State Herbal Practice Law, 2024, and the Anambra State Indigenous Traditional Medicine Practices Law, 2025. These are designed to formally integrate traditional medicine into the state’s healthcare delivery system while promoting standards and regulation.
Additionally, the Anambra State Mission Schools of Nursing and Midwifery (Amendment No. 2) Law, 2025, was signed to further strengthen the quality of training for nurses and midwives across the state’s mission-owned institutions.
Governor Soludo lauded the synergy between the executive and legislative arms of government, noting that the collective efforts of both branches are yielding tangible benefits for the people of Anambra.
“These laws mark a significant step forward in our mission to build a livable, secure, and prosperous homeland. I commend the State Assembly for their cooperation and commitment to the transformation agenda,” the Governor said.
As the new laws come into force, the Soludo administration continues to position Anambra State as a model of progressive governance in Nigeria.
