The Lagos State chapter of the Accord Party has stated its readiness to contest the upcoming local government elections scheduled for July 12 with a clear goal of securing victory.
Speaking in an interview on Thursday in Lagos, the state chairman of the party, Dele Oladeji, expressed strong belief in the Accord Party’s prospects, maintaining that it would claim several seats in the forthcoming polls.
“Our chances are solid. Accord is a well-known party, and we intend to field candidates who have a deep understanding of and connection with the grassroots,” Oladeji said.
He acknowledged the party’s existing strongholds and assured that it would intensify efforts to secure wins in those areas and beyond.
Oladeji also pledged that the party would diligently protect its votes on election day.
“We are committed to ensuring that every vote is counted and truly reflects the will of the people in the areas where we are contesting.
“We will educate voters on how to cast their votes properly and ensure that our agents remain at the polling units until results are counted and publicly announced,” he explained.
The chairman further disclosed that the party’s primaries for chairmanship and councillorship positions would take place on Sunday, utilising an indirect selection method.
He gave assurances that the primaries would be transparent and that the outcomes would accurately represent the preferences of Accord Party members.
