Arab foreign ministers called on Monday for immediate international action to protect Palestinians and rejected any attempts to forcibly displace them from their territory, according to resolutions adopted during a ministerial meeting of the Arab League in Cairo, Egypt.
Protection Demands and Support for Reconstruction Plans
The ministers urged the international community, including the United Nations and the UN Security Council, to take swift measures to protect the Palestinian population from military attacks and violence by Israeli occupiers. The Arab League expressed full political, financial, and legal backing for an Arab-Islamic recovery and reconstruction initiative for Gaza, endorsing an upcoming international donor conference in Cairo to secure funding for the efforts.
The council stressed the full implementation of all phases of the Gaza ceasefire agreement established during the 2025 Sharm el-Sheikh peace summit, demanding a complete end to hostilities to facilitate full-scale rebuilding across the enclave.
Opposition to Forced Displacement and Allegations of Violations
The resolutions explicitly rejected any form of population transfer or efforts to alter the demographic composition of the occupied Palestinian territories, specifically addressing policies framed as voluntary migration. The ministers warned that forcing Palestinians from their land constitutes ethnic cleansing and a severe violation of international law.
Additionally, the Arab League condemned Israeli military actions in Gaza, characterizing them as genocide, starvation tactics, siege, war crimes, and crimes against humanity. Official figures indicate that more than 73,000 Palestinians have been killed and over 174,000 injured during the conflict, which has left much of Gaza's essential civilian infrastructure destroyed.
