Glo Launches Examination Preparatory Service to Improve Student Performance in UTME, WAEC, IELTS
In response to growing concerns over the poor performance in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), leading digital services provider, Globacom, has unveiled its Examination Preparatory Service designed to boost students' academic performance in Computer-Based Tests (CBT) and other major examinations.
In a press statement released in Lagos, the telecom giant noted that the service is tailored to help students excel in a wide range of examinations, including JAMB’s UTME, the Junior and Senior West African Examinations Council (WAEC) exams, and the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).
This development comes in the wake of the 2025 UTME results released by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) on May 5, which showed that more than 1.5 million of the 1.9 million candidates scored below 200. The result breakdown revealed that 50.29% of candidates scored between 160 and 199, while 24.97% scored between 140 and 159—triggering concern from parents, educators, and policymakers alike.
Glo emphasized that its Examination Preparatory Service offers a targeted, practical approach to exam readiness by allowing students to familiarize themselves with the format, structure, and content of their respective examinations. Through regular engagement with practice materials, students can identify areas of weakness, reinforce core concepts, and develop effective exam strategies.
“With access to content for up to twenty subjects, including educational videos and exam-based materials, students can study more efficiently,” the company stated. “The service aids active recall and strengthens comprehension, which are key to long-term academic success.”
To access the service, users can dial 207916# on their Glo lines and choose their preferred exam category. Options include Junior Secondary Certificate Examination (JSCE), Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE), UTME (JAMB), and A-Level exams. The service is offered on a daily, weekly, or monthly subscription basis, with charges applied accordingly.
Beyond exam prep, Glo also offers an incentive element. Students can participate in trivia questions aligned with their exam syllabus and stand a chance to win airtime, data bundles, and cash prizes, rewarding academic diligence with tangible benefits.
Glo affirmed its commitment to supporting students with digital tools that drive academic excellence and help them unlock their full potential.
