Infrastructural Transformation at Lagos Police Command Signals New Era Under IGP Egbetokun

Lagos, Nigeria – The Nigeria Police Force is witnessing a wave of infrastructural renewal and professional rejuvenation, particularly at the Lagos State Police Command, thanks to the visionary leadership of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun.
Amid long-standing criticisms of poor infrastructure, inefficiency, and public mistrust, IGP Egbetokun’s deliberate effort to deploy capable officers to key formations is yielding visible results. One of the most notable examples is the recent transformation taking place under the leadership of Commissioner of Police (CP) Olohundare Jimoh Moshood in Lagos State.
Upon assuming office, CP Moshood immediately initiated a major facelift of the State Command Headquarters located at Muiz Banire Close, Ikeja GRA. What was once a symbol of administrative decay now boasts a renewed, professional ambience — a far cry from the previous dilapidated state that mirrored public sentiment towards the Nigeria Police Force.
CID Panti Undergoes Revamp
This spirit of transformation is also being replicated at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba, under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Dayo Akinbisehin. Akinbisehin, known for his record of reform in previous postings across Bauchi, Osun, and Akwa Ibom Commands, is quietly but effectively overseeing infrastructural and operational upgrades at the once-infamous facility.
Historically associated with reports of brutality, torture, and human rights abuses, Panti's reputation has undergone a significant overhaul in recent years. Today, the focus is shifting towards professionalism, accountability, and humane policing — values now further embodied in its improving physical environment.
A Strategic Deployment
The deployment of CP Moshood and DCP Akinbisehin reflects IGP Egbetokun’s commitment to strategic leadership and effective reforms. The ongoing infrastructural rejuvenation is not only about bricks and mortar but also represents a psychological boost for both personnel and the public they serve.
These developments exemplify a new model of community-driven policing, where collaboration between the police, stakeholders, and the public plays a critical role in fostering safer, more secure environments.
A Salute to Leadership
IGP Kayode Egbetokun deserves commendation for inspiring a new generation of police leaders across Nigeria. Despite resource constraints and public skepticism, these leaders are driving meaningful change, improving infrastructure, restoring morale, and rebuilding public trust in the Force.
The transformation in Lagos State is a promising sign that, with the right leadership and partnerships, the Nigeria Police Force can indeed rise above its past and deliver on its mandate to serve and protect with integrity.
