Akure, the capital city of Ondo State, was engulfed in sporadic gunshots, leading to panic among residents who are scampering for safety following a clash between men of the Police and Amotekun corps.
The clash occurred at the ShopRite roundabout, very close to the Amotekun headquarters at around 2pm.
Though the cause of the clash has not been ascertained as of press time, the Shoprite roundabout is now barricaded and cordoned off by the Amotekun corps due to the face-off between the Amotekun and the Ondo Police in Akure.
Motorists were not allowed to pass while many vehicles were seen turning back to take other available routes to their destination.
