By Comrade Gloria Adams: Reporting As Media Aide To Hon. Festus Keyamo
Uvwie, Delta State – June 5, 2025
In a groundbreaking development, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State has successfully unified under the leadership of Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Olorogun Festus Keyamo. This merger marks a significant shift towards consociational democracy, where diverse interests collaborate under a shared governance framework.
The landmark development was celebrated during a unity meeting hosted by the Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Olorogun Festus Keyamo (SAN), CON, at his residence in Uvwie. The event brought together political leaders, elders, and grassroots stakeholders from both the PDP and APC under the rebranded APC platform, marking a watershed moment in Delta’s political trajectory.
Addressing the gathering, Keyamo described the unity as “only achievable by God’s grace,” stressing that “from this moment, everything that happened in the past is behind us. We forgive one another and forge ahead in unity.” Emphasising equality among party members, he declared that there would be “no old or new APC—everyone will start afresh on a clean slate."
This political realignment echoes the core tenets of consociational democracy, where inclusivity, coalition-building, and mutual respect transcend factional rivalries. Keyamo’s charismatic leadership has been instrumental in dissolving historical divides, fostering dialogue, and creating a new political structure grounded in unity and purpose.
The gathering also strongly aligned itself with the "Renewed Hope" agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) and the M.O.R.E Agenda of Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff O. Oborevwori. Together, the two leaders represent a growing Tinubu–Oborevwori consolidation, uniting national and state-level governance into a formidable grassroots movement.
Grassroots Unification with National Implications
In his remarks, Hon. Barr. Edafe Emakpor, Member Representing Uvwie Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, praised Keyamo’s “dogged conviction” and described the merger as “a great thing that can ever happen to a people.” He emphasised that “election in Uvwie will now be ‘carry go’ because we are all in one boat.
Hon. Chief Solomon Okporua Ighrakpata, the Chairman, Delta Board of Internal Revenue Services, echoed similar sentiments, applauding both the minister and the governor for championing unity. “In the past,” he said, “family members, even couples, were divided by politics. But today, we are one. Delta is now APC, and APC is Delta.”
Hon. Henry Minabowanre Baro, Director, Corporate Services, Nigeria Safety Investigation Bureau (NISB), emphatically praised the Keyamo-Oborevwori initiative to unite Delta State under one political platform. "It is coming of bothers to build unity and stability for the good of our people. We won't have sleepless nights thinking of how to outdo each other during elections. The era of bitter and dirty politics is over. This synergy is a developmentalist paradigm to relax our political temperature. We can now see the power of unity in political development transforming into economic empowerment for everyone. It is an inclusive arrangement where no one is left out. Our support for Sheriff Oborivwori as Governor and Tinubu as President is rightfully endorsed and sealed for victory come 2027".
Hon. Chief Anthony Onoriode Ofoni JP, Executive Chairman of Uvwie local government Council, pledged open access to his office in support of the party’s shared goals. He noted that synergy between Tinubu’s vision and Oborevwori’s development agenda would “undoubtedly yield remarkable results” for Delta’s future.
Former House of Representatives member and ex-Uvwie LGA chairman, Hon. Evelyn Omavowan Oboro, called for sustained unity and love among political leaders. “That is the only way to deliver our mandate come 2027,” she urged.
