Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has officially left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to join the All Progressives Congress (APC). The announcement was made during a ceremony in Uyo, the state capital, on Friday.
This decision follows Eno’s recent statement indicating it was time for him to transition to the APC. At a town hall meeting in Ikot Abasi, he expressed, “It is time to move” and align the state with the APC at the federal level. The governor noted that this choice was made after thorough consultations.
In a show of support, several APC governors traveled to Akwa Ibom State to welcome Eno into the party. Among those present were Hope Uzodimma, Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum and Governor of Imo State; Bassey Otu of Cross River State; Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State; and Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State.
Others mentioned are Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State, Monday Okpebholo of Edo State, and Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State.
