The Executive Chairman of Uvwie Local Government Council, Hon. Chief Anthony Onoriode Ofoni (JP), has marked his second anniversary in office with the unveiling of six newly acquired official vehicles aimed at strengthening security operations and enhancing administrative efficiency across the council.
The event, which formed part of activities commemorating the chairman's two years in office, highlighted the administration's commitment to improving governance, public safety, and effective service delivery in Uvwie Local Government Area.
The six vehicles were officially unveiled by the Executive Chairman of the Delta State Internal Revenue Service (DIRS), Hon. Chief Solomon Ighrakpata (JP), who commended the Uvwie Council Chairman for what he described as visionary and people-oriented leadership.
Speaking during the ceremony, Chief Ighrakpata praised Hon. Ofoni for his numerous developmental projects and his dedication to improving the welfare of residents of Uvwie.
According to him, the procurement of the vehicles demonstrates the council chairman's determination to strengthen local governance, enhance security surveillance, and provide the necessary tools for officials to discharge their responsibilities effectively.
As part of the distribution, a Toyota Camry car was presented to the Leader of the Uvwie Legislative Arm, Rt. Hon. Rire Uruesheyi, in recognition of the cordial working relationship between the executive and legislative arms of the council.
Similarly, another Toyota Camry was handed over to the Secretary to the Local Government Council, Sir Grayham Osakwe, to facilitate administrative coordination and improve the efficiency of council operations.
In addition, four Toyota Sienna vehicles were dedicated to security surveillance within Uvwie Local Government Area, with the aim of strengthening patrol operations, supporting security agencies, and improving emergency response across communities.
The council explained that the deployment of the security vehicles forms part of its broader strategy to sustain peace, combat criminal activities, and ensure the safety of residents and businesses throughout the local government.
The unveiling ceremony attracted government officials, traditional rulers, community leaders, political stakeholders, security personnel, party faithful, and residents, who gathered to celebrate the chairman's second anniversary and witness the presentation of the vehicles.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Chief Anthony Onoriode Ofoni reaffirmed his administration's commitment to delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of Uvwie.
He noted that the vehicles represent another investment in good governance, adding that effective administration requires adequate logistics for both public officials and security personnel.
The chairman stressed that security remains one of the major priorities of his administration, explaining that no meaningful development can thrive without a peaceful and secure environment.
According to him, the additional vehicles will improve surveillance activities and enable security operatives to respond more swiftly to emergencies and maintain law and order across the council area.
He also expressed appreciation to the people of Uvwie for their continued support, cooperation, and confidence in his administration over the past two years.
Hon. Ofoni assured residents that his administration would continue to implement programmes and projects aimed at improving infrastructure, healthcare, education, environmental sanitation, youth empowerment, and economic development.
Stakeholders at the ceremony commended the council chairman for what they described as prudent management of public resources and sustained investment in projects that directly impact the lives of residents.
Many noted that since assuming office, the administration has embarked on several developmental initiatives, including the construction and rehabilitation of markets, improvements in healthcare facilities, environmental sanitation programmes, road maintenance, agricultural development, vocational training, educational support initiatives, and security interventions.
They described the procurement of the vehicles as another demonstration of the administration's resolve to strengthen institutions and improve public service delivery.
The presentation of the official vehicles was also viewed as a significant boost to collaboration between the executive and legislative arms of the council, while reinforcing the council's commitment to ensuring that public officers have the necessary tools to perform their duties efficiently.
Observers said the four Sienna vehicles allocated for security surveillance would further complement existing security measures and enhance the operational capacity of security agencies working within Uvwie Local Government Area.
The second anniversary celebration also provided an opportunity for residents and stakeholders to reflect on the achievements recorded under the Ofoni administration and to renew their support for the council's developmental agenda.
The event concluded with goodwill messages from dignitaries, who congratulated Hon. Chief Anthony Onoriode Ofoni (JP) on reaching the two-year milestone and encouraged him to sustain the pace of development, peace-building, and people-centred governance that has characterized his administration.
