Vera O. Ifaka reporting for APC Delta Central Women
In a powerful show of unity, the Delta Central Women Wing of the All Progressives Congress (APC), gathered in Ughelli to endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Delta State Governor, Rt Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori as their sole candidates for the 2027 elections. Led by Hon. Stella Eruvwuoghene Okotete, (FCE, PFD, OON, Executive Director, Business Development, Nexim Bank) the meeting reinforced the party’s commitment to the Renewed Hope and M.O.R.E agendas, framing them as pathways to inclusive governance and development.
Okotete set the tone, declaring that Delta women could no longer afford to stay passive. She emphasised unwavering support for Tinubu and Oborevwori, stating, “APC in Delta is now one party, and our leader is Governor Oborevwori.” Her speech carried a message of hope, assuring women that their welfare would remain a priority under the current administration, with the governor’s wife actively championing their cause.
The gathering also served as a call for reconciliation, dismissing divisions within the party. Okotete firmly stated, “No former PDP, no new APC—we are all one.” This message of unity was reinforced by apologies from absent leaders; Hon. Chief Faith Majemite and Chief Mrs Judith Enamuotor, including House of Representatives member Iretake Suenu Ibori, who pledged to host the next meeting in Oghara.
Chief Hon. Evelyn Omavowan Oboro Esq, a former lawmaker, praised Oborevwori’s relentless work ethic, highlighting his infrastructure projects—such as ongoing flyover constructions—and prompt payment of contractors without borrowing. She also commended his focus on human capital development, urging women to rally behind him for sustained progress.
The event, held at Ughelli Kingdom Hall, brought together key female leaders, including state and central officials such as Hon. Tina Okwudile (State Woman Leader)
Dr. Mrs. Hemia D. Akpomeyoma,
Dns. Onojoserio Ese (Delta Central Woman Leader).
Mrs. Rose Ezewo (Hon. Commissioner, for secondary school Education, Delta State.) Evangelist Anna Agoda,
Hon Mrs. Rose Amioku,
Chief Mrs. Josephine Uduaran,
Hon. Princess Okhios (Executive Assistant to the Senator representing Delta Central)
Dr. Ese Obriki,
Hon. Regina Edekki amongst others.
Their presence underscored the critical role of women in mobilising grassroots support for the APC’s vision.
A pivotal moment came when Hon. Josephine Uduaran and Hon. Evelyn Oboro moved a motion to formally adopt Tinubu and Oborevwori as the party’s exclusive candidates for 2027. The motion was met with overwhelming approval, symbolising a consolidated front. Okotete seconded it, declaring, *“Delta Central women have spoken with one voice.”*
This endorsement is more than symbolic—it is a strategic step towards strengthening APC’s dominance in Delta. With the opposition now sidelined, the party can focus entirely on governance, infrastructure, and human capital development. The women’s wing, through this unified stance, positions itself as a key driver of political and economic transformation.
The meeting also highlighted Oborevwori’s growing influence as Delta’s APC leader, with members rallying behind his no-debt governance model. By aligning with Tinubu’s national policies, the state aims to attract more federal projects while maintaining fiscal discipline.
Moving forward, the women’s wing plans to expand mobilisation efforts across all wards, ensuring the endorsement translates into electoral success. Their agenda includes advocating for more female representation in party structures and amplifying grassroots engagement.
This gathering marks a new chapter for Delta—one where unity, development, and women’s leadership take centre stage. With Tinubu and Oborevwori firmly endorsed, the APC is poised to deliver lasting progress, proving that Delta’s future is firmly in the hands of a determined and organised political force.
