The attention of the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Delta State, has been drawn to a grossly misleading and mischievous publication authored by one Felix Igbekoyi and published by Leadership newspapers, purporting that there is a leadership tussle within the Party in Delta State.
We wish to categorically state that the report is not only baseless and fictitious, but it is also a wide figment of the imagination of the writer who, rather than adhere to the established principles of objective, factual and ethical journalism, chose instead to indulge in reckless conjecture and deliberate misinformation. The publication, riddled with falsehoods, half-truths and distortions, represents a clear departure from the journalistic responsibility and integrity that is expected of any journalist who is worth their mettle.
For the purpose of clarity and to put the record straight, we state unequivocally that Delta APC is fully united, focused and solidly aligned behind the leadership of *His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori*, the Executive Governor of Delta State, whose defection to the APC was momentous and widely celebrated across the political landscape of the state. The report’s attempt to paint a picture of division within the Party is not only malicious but also patently untrue and is a classic case of journalistic recklessness.
Without mincing words, we wish to reiterate without any iota of ambiguity that there is no faction or splinter group within Delta APC. *Elder Omeni Sobotie* remains the duly recognized and legitimately elected chairman of the party in Delta State. From the ward level to the State Executive Committee, there exists only one APC structure, operating in unity and cohesion under Elder Sobotie’s leadership. Any suggestion of a parallel executive committee is a fabrication aimed at causing unnecessary tension and disaffection within the Party and it must be rejected in its entirety.
Furthermore, the claims made by one Jeckins Ejiro Wisike in the said publication are equally erroneous and stem from a position of ignorance or deliberate mischief. It is important to clarify that His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, is a fully registered and bona fide member of the All Progressives Congress, having validly completed his registration upon his formal defection from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), alongside other notable political heavyweights.
Hence, the adoption of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori as the consensus sole candidate of the APC in Delta Central during the Unity Meeting held on Sunday, 9th June 2025, was done in accordance with the provisions of the APC Constitution, which permits and encourages consensus candidacy. That historic meeting, attended by leading lights of Delta Central politics-including national and state lawmakers, former ministers, party executives and grassroots leaders-was a clear demonstration of Party's unity, vision and commitment to strategic leadership going into future elections.
It smacks of journalistic rascality for Mr. Felix Igbekoyi to insinuate that the distinguished senator representing the good people of Delta Central was disappointed with the organizers of the event. At no point during the Unity Meeting did the distinguished *Senator Ede Dafinone* express the purported discontent falsely attributed to him by the writer. This claim is a deliberate falsehood designed to malign the senator's reputation and undermine the credibility of the meeting's outcome. We challenge the writer and his sponsors to present any credible evidence to back this ridiculous assertion.
Delta State APC therefore urges the general public, our party faithful and all well-meaning Deltans to disregard the Leadership newspaper report as a desperate and clumsy attempt by enemies of progress to distract from the growing unity and popularity of the APC in Delta State under the visionary and inclusive leadership of *His Excellency Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff Oborevwori*.
Delta APC remains committed to building a stronger and more prosperous Delta State, guided by democratic principles, internal cohesion and respect for due process. No amount of false reportage or cheap paid propaganda can derail the collective will of our members and the people of Delta State from reaping the benefits of the M.O.R.E. Agenda of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori's administration.
APC Renewed Hope For M.O.R.E. Agenda
