The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced it will begin distributing Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and diesel across Nigeria starting from August 15, 2025.
As part of its large-scale rollout plan, the company is introducing 4,000 new Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered tankers to enhance its delivery network and ensure wider access to fuel throughout the country.
In a statement released on Sunday, Dangote Refinery revealed that this supply will be available to various sectors including fuel marketers, petrol station owners, manufacturers, telecommunications providers, aviation companies, and other major fuel consumers.
The company also outlined plans to strengthen distribution through the setup of satellite booster CNG stations and the deployment of more than 100 additional gas-powered tankers.
It emphasized that part of the logistics arrangement includes free delivery of products—an effort aimed at easing distribution challenges and cutting down operational expenses across critical sectors of the economy.
“We are excited to announce a major national distribution programme that will reshape how fuel is delivered across Nigeria,” the statement read. “Starting from August 15, 2025, we will commence the nationwide supply of PMS and diesel with free logistics support to eligible bulk consumers. This initiative aligns with our commitment to reducing delivery costs, boosting energy access, advancing sustainability, and supporting national economic growth.”
Meanwhile, Aliko Dangote, President of the Dangote Group, recently hinted at an upcoming shake-up in the country’s downstream sector, describing it as a “complete overhaul” rather than just a fuel price adjustment. He made the comments during an interview following President Bola Tinubu’s visit to the $20 billion refinery located in Lekki, Lagos.
The development comes as petroleum tanker drivers in Lagos threaten to suspend operations due to the N12,500 fee per truck for the E-Call Up system required on the Lekki-Epe corridor.
The refinery’s new initiative also includes a credit scheme for bulk buyers purchasing 500,000 litres and above. It is expected to revive inactive filling stations, reduce inflation, boost small businesses, and contribute to President Tinubu’s ongoing economic reforms.
