Putting speculation to rest, Omani Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi has announced that the sixth round of indirect nuclear talks between Iran and the United States will not take place.
The next round of negotiations had been scheduled for Sunday in the Omani capital, Muscat.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Albusaidi confirmed the cancellation, while stressing that “diplomacy and dialogue remain the only way to lasting peace.”
“The Iran–US talks, which were scheduled to be held in Muscat on Sunday this week, will not take place now. But diplomacy and dialogue remain the only way to lasting peace,” he wrote.

The indirect nuclear diplomacy, which began in April with Oman’s mediation, hit a roadblock following the latest brutal Israeli aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The multipronged terrorist attacks resulted in the assassination of several high-ranking Iranian military commanders, nuclear scientists, and civilians, including women and children.
One of the deadliest strikes hit a residential building in northern Tehran, killing at least 60 civilians, including 20 children.
The assault was carried out with the green light from the United States, a fact confirmed by US President Donald Trump in interviews and a social media post on Friday, just hours after the attacks in Tehran and other Iranian cities.
Speaking to CNN, Trump said he "of course" supports the Israeli regime and described the strikes as "a very successful attack," while warning Iran to return to nuclear negotiations.

“Iran should have listened to me when I said — you know, I gave them, I don’t know if you know, but I gave them a 60-day warning and today is day 61,” he was quoted as saying.
In a separate interview with Reuters, Trump confirmed that his administration was fully informed of the Israeli plan to attack the Islamic Republic of Iran.
“We knew everything, and I tried to save Iran humiliation and death. I tried to save them very hard because I would have loved to have seen a deal worked out,” he said.
They can still work out a deal; however, it’s not too late.”
In a report published on Friday, the Middle East Eye website said the US quietly delivered hundreds of advanced laser-guided missiles to the Israeli regime, knowing that they would be used against Iran.
“There is a time and place for Hellfires. They were useful to Israel [as it was seeking to strike the Islamic Republic],” a senior American military official was quoted as saying by the website.

Iranian Foreign Minister and lead nuclear negotiator Abbas Araghchi, in a phone call with EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas on Saturday, said continuing indirect talks with the US amid Israel’s savagery was “unjustifiable.”
The top Iranian diplomat said the US president’s messages and statements proved that Israel’s hostile measures against Iran were the result of Washington’s direct support for the regime.
Araghchi also called on the international community to issue a strong and unequivocal condemnation of Israel’s aggression against Iran.
