The political landscape of Ondo South is beginning to take shape ahead of the 2027 general elections as HRH Dele Omosehin, the Traditional Prime Minister (Lisa) of Osooro Kingdom, formally declared his intention to contest.
Omosehin made the announcement during a weekend stakeholders’ engagement that drew large attendance from Okitipupa, Irele, and other neighboring communities.
The declaration was greeted with enthusiastic support from traditional rulers, youth leaders, women groups, and political allies.
Speaking at the gathering, Omosehin said his decision to enter the political race stemmed from a genuine desire to extend the scope of his community-focused initiatives through formal public office.
He stated that he is not driven by personal ambition, but by what he described as a growing demand for responsible, inclusive, and results-oriented leadership.
According to him, the time has come to elevate the work already being done and reach more people through representation.
Founder of the Bamidele Omosehin Foundation and President of the Bamidele Omosehin Group, Omosehin is widely known for his philanthropy and community development projects across Ondo South.
His interventions have spanned youth empowerment, education sponsorships, healthcare outreach, and support for widows and vulnerable groups.
The event featured prayers and blessings from traditional leaders as well as public endorsements from various interest groups, many of whom described Omosehin as a symbol of hope and transformation.
Although he is yet to declare the specific office he intends to contest, political observers believe his entry into the race will be a major factor in reshaping the region’s political outlook.
