The former Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Prof. Kolapo Olusola Eleka, has resigned his membership from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a resignation letter addressed to the Chairman of his ward in Ikere Ward 002, Eleka hinged his resignation on the inability of the party to provide leadership and credible opposition to the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying he could not continue staying in a party that lacks direction.
Prof. Eleka, who was the Deputy Governor to former Governor Ayodele Fayose from 2018 to 2022 and lost to Governor Biodun Oyebanji in June 2022, in his speech appreciated his supporters and party leaders for giving him the platform to attain stardom.
While he did not hint at his next political destination, insiders are already touting the ADC as the party likely to welcome the former guber aspirant.
As the 2027 guber race gathers momentum, some of the bigwigs of the PDP in Ekiti State have joined the African Democratic Congress, and the prospect of Eleka teaming up with the new party will sure give it a boost.
