Six students of the Nigerian Law School have been abducted by armed men in Benue State while travelling from Onitsha, Anambra, to Yola, Adamawa, on Saturday, 26 July 2025.
The victims were on their way to resume academic activities at the Yola campus, which is scheduled to reopen on Monday, 28 July, following their court externship break.
A fellow law student, Damilare Adenola, confirmed the abduction, naming some of the missing students as Rev Ernest Okafor, Ogbuka Fabian, Nwamma Philip, Okechukwu Obadiegwu, Obalem Emmanuel and Obiorah David.
According to Adenola, the incident occurred along the Wukari–Benue axis, an area notorious for insecurity and repeated attacks on travellers.
A student leader at the Yola campus, speaking anonymously due to the sensitivity of the matter, said the case had been reported to the police. “We have contacted the Adamawa Police Command and are waiting for further updates. There is no concrete information yet,” the student leader said.
Yahaya Suleiman, spokesperson for the Adamawa State Police Command, confirmed awareness of the incident but clarified that it did not occur within Adamawa’s jurisdiction.
“The abduction did not happen inside Adamawa State. You may need to reach out to the Benue State Police Command for detailed information,” Suleiman stated.
He added that security agencies were working in coordination to secure the victims’ release.
“We are collaborating with the Benue State Police Command and other security agencies to ensure the safe recovery of the abducted students,” he said.
