The Kano State Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has sanctioned two judiciary staff members over allegations of misconduct, including forgery and prolonged absenteeism.
In a statement released in Kano by the judiciary’s spokesperson, Baba Jibo-Ibrahim, the commission confirmed the demotion of Adamu Salisu, a Court Registrar at High Court No. 13, for falsifying affidavits of service and forging a bailiff’s signature.
The decision was reached during the commission’s 84th meeting held on Friday.
Salisu, who was also found to have unlawfully signed documents as a Commissioner for Oaths, was demoted from Grade Level 13 to Grade Level 12 and relieved of his role as registrar of the high court.
“He admitted to the misconduct and was found guilty of forgery and unethical conduct,” Jibo-Ibrahim said. “He has been issued a strong warning and informed that any further infractions could lead to criminal prosecution.”
The spokesperson noted that the disciplinary action aligns with the commission’s mandate to uphold integrity, accountability, and professional ethics within the judiciary.
In a separate case, the commission demoted Yusuf Ayuba, a Clerical Assistant at High Court No. 8, Miller Road, for absenteeism. Ayuba reportedly abandoned his duty post for four months without any justification.
Following an investigation by the Judiciary Public Complaints Committee (JPCC), Ayuba was demoted from Grade Level 5 to Grade Level 4.
“These actions are part of efforts to curb absenteeism and promote discipline among judiciary staff,” Jibo-Ibrahim added. “The commission maintains a zero-tolerance stance on misconduct and remains committed to enforcing high ethical standards across all levels of the judiciary.”
