The Nigerian Senate has removed Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), representing Kogi Central, from her role as Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Diaspora and Non-Governmental Organisations.
This development, directed by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, reflects ongoing political realignments within the National Assembly.
It is the second time Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan has been stripped of a committee leadership position during the 10th Senate. In February, she was removed as Chair of the Senate Committee on Local Content and subsequently reassigned to lead the Diaspora and NGO Committee.
With the latest decision, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan currently holds no committee leadership post in the Senate. She has been replaced by Senator Aniekan Bassey, who represents Akwa Ibom North East Senatorial District.
