Delta Air Lines is set to enhance its services between Nigeria and the United States with the deployment of its latest and most advanced aircraft, alongside the opening of a new premium lounge at Lagos’ Murtala Muhammed International Airport.
From October, the airline will begin operating the Airbus A350-900 on the Lagos–Atlanta (LOS–ATL) route, replacing the A330-200 and increasing seat capacity by 35 percent. Between 2 December and 16 January, the Airbus A330-900neo will serve the Lagos–New York (LOS–JFK) route, catering to the heightened holiday travel demand.
Joseph Young, Delta’s General Manager for Europe, Middle East, Africa and India, said: “Delta has served Lagos for nearly 20 years, and it remains a crucial gateway for us. These upgrades reflect our enduring relationship with Nigeria. Whether it’s the privacy of Delta One Suites or the hospitality in our new lounge, we are enhancing every part of the customer journey.”
The A350-900, Delta’s flagship aircraft, is designed for a quieter and more fuel-efficient flight. It offers wider seats and an upgraded in-flight experience. The A330-900neo, meanwhile, will provide improved cabin pressure, better humidity control, and a more tranquil environment than its predecessor.
Both aircraft feature Delta One Suites with lie-flat beds, sliding privacy doors, luxury bedding and bespoke service. Delta Premium Select offers extra legroom and enhanced dining, while Delta Main Cabin includes personalised entertainment, ambient lighting, and greater personal space. All cabins benefit from state-of-the-art air filtration systems.
Delta also confirmed that from early April 2025, passengers flying across its transatlantic network to West Africa and Europe will have access to fast, free Delta Sync Wi-Fi, powered by T-Mobile.
The airline has deepened its collaboration with Italian fashion house Missoni, introducing a new level of elegance and comfort across its premium products.
In preparation for these upgrades, Delta unveiled its newly renovated premium lounge in Lagos on 1 July. The space is designed to offer a more refined and relaxed pre-departure experience for passengers.
Commenting on the developments, Matteo Curcio, Delta’s Senior Vice President for Europe, Middle East, Africa and India, said: “With the opening of our new premium lounge in Lagos and the introduction of our most advanced aircraft, we are reaffirming our commitment to Nigerian travellers. This is a strategic investment in infrastructure and quality, ensuring that we deliver a world-class travel experience from West Africa to the world.”
