Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has reiterated his administration’s commitment to ensuring the welfare and safety of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in the state.
The governor, represented by the NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs. Kuburat Omowumi Bakare, gave the assurance at the closing ceremony of the 2025 Batch ‘B’ Stream 1 orientation course, held on Tuesday at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ikare-Akoko.
According to him, “the state remains committed to youth empowerment, development, and welfare. We assure you of a peaceful and conducive environment to carry out your national service and make meaningful contributions.”
Governor Aiyedatiwa urged corps members to be law-abiding, security-conscious, and to conduct themselves in ways that project a positive image of their families, institutions, and the NYSC scheme.
He described them as ambassadors of unity, peace, and development, reminding them of the need to uphold these values throughout their service year.
He further encouraged them to put into practice the lessons from the orientation course by embracing their host communities, identifying pressing needs, and contributing to community development projects.
In his words, “by doing so, you will not only leave positive footprints but also promote national unity and integration.”
The governor also advised corps members to maximize the opportunities of the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme by venturing into trades and businesses that would make them self-reliant after service.
He appealed to community leaders and stakeholders to extend continuous support and protection to corps members.
“Embrace them as your own and provide the enabling environment they need to thrive,” he said.
The ceremony also featured the presentation of commendation awards to outstanding camp officials. In the NYSC category, Mr. Aminu Jelili Adebayo was honoured, while Inspector Sanni Mary received recognition in the collaborating agencies’ category.
