The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Jigawa has trained drivers of the state’s 27 local government chairmen on safe driving practices, as part of efforts to promote road safety and reduce accidents.
The training, held in collaboration with the Jigawa Local Government Service Commission, focused on drivers’ psychology, defensive driving techniques, first aid, rescue operations, and handling vehicles under special conditions.
Speaking at the event in Dutse, the FRSC Sector Commander in Jigawa, Umar Mas’udu, said the initiative was designed to improve participants’ driving culture and curb the reckless habits that often lead to congestion, road obstructions, and avoidable crashes.
He stressed that constant training and retraining of drivers, especially government officials, was essential to building a safer motoring environment.
Local Government Service Commission Chairman, Uba Bala, commended the FRSC for the programme, noting that it would help instil discipline among official drivers and enhance road safety across the state.
Bala added that both federal and state governments have invested heavily in rehabilitating and expanding road networks to improve transportation, with Jigawa serving as a vital link between the North-West and North-East regions
