Governor Soludo's ANSEC Advances Infrastructure Drive, Approves Nri-Agbanabo-Nimo Road Project

The Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC), under the leadership of Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, has approved the construction of the Nri–Agbanabo–Nimo Road as part of its ongoing infrastructure revolution aimed at transforming the state into the "Dubai-Silicon Valley" of Nigeria.
The approval was granted during the 17th ANSEC meeting held on July 30, 2025, at the Light House, Awka. The meeting also witnessed a number of other strategic decisions across various sectors, reflecting the administration's commitment to inclusive development and historical preservation.
Briefing journalists after the meeting, the Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, disclosed that the Council also approved the restoration of the historic name "Abakaliki Street," which had been renamed Club Road in 2018 by the previous administration. He said the decision was aimed at correcting what was described as “a historic mistake” and reaffirming the shared identity of the Igbo people, emphasizing that the creation of states should be viewed as administrative conveniences rather than cultural boundaries.
As part of urban renewal efforts, the Council gave the green light for immediate commencement of the Awka City Park Project. The park is expected to offer environmental, recreational, and economic benefits to residents of the capital city, improving quality of life and boosting the local economy.
Further expanding the state’s road network, ANSEC approved the dualisation of the Ekwulobia–Nnobi Road. This marks the completion of a major infrastructure milestone—linking the four major cities in Anambra State via dual carriageways to improve traffic flow and enhance connectivity.
In line with its economic reform agenda, the Council reviewed and endorsed the 2024 Business Enabling Reforms Action Plan (BERAP), aimed at improving the ease of doing business and attracting investment into the state.
On youth empowerment, ANSEC approved the launch of Cohort Two of the “One-Youth-Two-Skills” scheme following the success of its first phase. Dr. Mefor revealed that 7,163 out of 11,000 trainees in Cohort One successfully completed training in 65 different skill areas, with over 1,000 emerging as millionaires through various entrepreneurial ventures. Additionally, 235 apprentices under the Local Enterprise Development programme across the state’s 21 local government areas also graduated successfully.
To further promote entrepreneurship, the Council also approved a start-up incubation programme through the Solution Innovation District (SID). The initiative aims to support early-stage businesses and aligns with Governor Soludo’s vision of positioning Anambra as a hub for innovation-driven growth and tech-enabled development solutions.
