The Kaduna State Community and Social Development Agency (KADCSDA)has renovated 77 classrooms in 2024, improving learning conditions for 90,823 pupils as part of its poverty reduction drive.
Dr Muhammed Mukaddas, its General Manager, disclosed this while presenting the agency’s 2024 achievements, stressing alignment with Gov. Uba Sani’s SUSTAIN agenda on poverty reduction, inclusion and grassroots development.
He explained that the renovated schools were mainly in underserved communities where children previously studied in dilapidated structures.
According to him, the intervention has restored dignity and encouraged learning among pupils.
Mukaddas said 13 primary healthcare centres were revitalised and re-equipped, offering essential services to 12,498 residents, especially women and children, thereby reducing maternal and child mortality in rural areas.
On water supply, he said, the agency drilled 81 motorised boreholes across communities, providing potable water to 92,804 residents and significantly reducing cases of waterborne diseases.
The agency’s boss, disclosed that 5,229 women, youths and persons with disabilities received empowerment support, including livelihood grants, mobility aids, vocational equipment and training to boost income and self-reliance.
He said 5,112 youths and women secured temporary jobs under the Labour-Intensive Public Workfare programme, while 1,363 community committee members were trained to sustain completed projects.
On partnerships, Mukaddas disclosed that Al Masareef Foundation pledged support in March 2024, targeting underserved communities with grassroots projects, complementing the agency’s ongoing interventions across Kaduna State.
He added that KADCSDA also engaged the World Bank’s third-party review team, reinforcing transparency and accountability in implementing the state’s CARES initiatives to strengthen grassroots development.
Mukaddas attributed the agency’s impact to Gov. Uba Sani’s leadership, describing him as committed to empowering vulnerable citizens and giving them opportunities for sustainable livelihoods and community growth.
“Our impact is restoring dignity, reviving dreams and strengthening communities.
“We are showing what is possible when development is driven by the people,” he said.
Mukaddas reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to prioritising life changing projects that directly improve the living standards of poor and vulnerable populations across the state.
