Oborevwori’s Commitment to MORE Agenda Irrevocable — Izeze

Delta State Commissioner for Works (Highways and Urban Roads), Comrade Reuben Izeze, has reaffirmed that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s commitment to the MORE Agenda is a covenant with Deltans, stressing that his dedication to fulfilling it remains irrevocable.

Izeze stated this while briefing journalists on Wednesday during an inspection of ongoing road projects across the state.

According to him, the governor’s vision is evident in the scale of construction currently transforming Delta into what he described as “a construction site.”

“The summary of all that we did today is that the Oborevwori’s commitment to the MORE Agenda is a covenant. And his commitment to that covenant is irrevocable. That is why you can see that every part of Delta State is a construction site today,” Izeze said.

The commissioner listed some of the projects inspected to include the 7.5-kilometre rehabilitation of Nnebisi Road stretching to the Onitsha Expressway, as well as the asphalt overlay of Summit Road leading to Government House Junction in Asaba.

He noted that the ongoing rehabilitation of Nnebisi Road down to Abraka Junction at the Onitsha Expressway, alongside the Summit Road–Government House Junction upgrade, are strategic interventions aimed at improving the aesthetics of Asaba and advancing urban renewal befitting of a state capital.

Izeze further said the projects go beyond easing traffic flow to transforming the city’s outlook. “The Nnebisi Road is one of the busiest corridors linking the metropolis to the Onitsha Expressway, and its rehabilitation is to modern standards.

The Summit Road works are equally designed to complement this effort, ensuring that the state capital wears a new look that reflects the pride of Delta. What you see is deliberate to give Asaba a new look that matches its status as the capital of a progressive state,” Izeze explained.

He described the inspection of the Delta State House of Assembly Cooperative Estate Road in Okpanam as particularly gratifying, noting that Governor Oborevwori, as former Speaker of the House, had played a vital role in restoring the property rights of staff and members of the cooperative society.

“Today, posterity has placed him in a vantage position as governor to further consolidate that legacy. He is now responsible for the construction of about 1.975 kilometres approximately 2 kilometres of roads within that estate, linking it to the Benin-Asaba Expressway, with additional internal roads and drainage to channel stormwater out of the estate,” he said.

Izeze added that the intervention not only enhances infrastructure but also underscores the governor’s sense of history and commitment to the welfare of Deltans.

“The Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori will never forget his history. A man who remembers his history will always work to better the lives of his people,” the commissioner declared.
