The Delta State Government has expressed high praise for Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, recognizing the company’s pivotal role in safeguarding Nigeria’s oil infrastructure and bolstering the nation’s economic stability. The commendation came from the state’s Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, during an appearance on The Morning Show on Arise News on Sunday, October 19, 2025.
Aniagwu emphasized that Tantita’s efforts in securing oil facilities in the Niger Delta have been instrumental in driving Nigeria’s crude oil production to approximately 1.7 million barrels per day, a significant increase from the previous 1.1 million barrels per day. This surge in production has had a ripple effect, benefiting both the federal and state economies through enhanced revenue streams. For Delta State, Nigeria’s leading oil-producing state, the increase in oil output has translated into higher derivation funds, although Aniagwu noted that the current 13 percent derivation allocation remains insufficient to meet the state’s expectations.
“Tantita’s contributions are a shining example of corporate citizenship,” Aniagwu stated, dismissing any comparisons between the company’s security operations in the Niger Delta and incidents of banditry elsewhere in the country. He highlighted that the improved oil production has not only strengthened Delta State’s financial position but also contributed significantly to the national treasury, enabling the federal government to fund critical projects and services across the federation.
Aniagwu underscored that the administration of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori remains steadfast in fulfilling its constitutional mandate, as outlined in Section 14(2)(b) of the Nigerian Constitution, which prioritizes the security and welfare of citizens. The state government has adopted a multifaceted approach to governance, focusing on infrastructure development, social welfare programs, and job creation to elevate living standards and foster inclusive growth across all segments of society.
Over the past two years, the Delta State Government has invested over ₦1.3 trillion in capital projects, including roads, bridges, and flyovers, which Aniagwu described as tangible achievements “on the ground, not in the air.” These infrastructure developments have improved connectivity and economic activity within the state, benefiting both urban and rural communities. Additionally, the government has prioritized timely salary payments for workers and introduced humanitarian initiatives to support vulnerable groups, such as widows, through empowerment programs and job creation schemes.
The Commissioner also highlighted the state’s commitment to education, noting that prudent fiscal management has ensured that schools in Delta State rarely participate in national strikes. This stability reflects the government’s dedication to maintaining a functional and solvent education system, which is critical to human capital development.
At the heart of Governor Oborevwori’s administration is the MORE Agenda, an acronym representing Meaningful Development, Opportunities for All, Realistic Reforms, and Enhanced Peace and Security. Aniagwu emphasized that this agenda serves as the cornerstone of the state’s policy framework, guiding initiatives across Delta’s 25 local government areas. The MORE Agenda is designed to ensure that government resources translate into tangible improvements in the lives of citizens, aligning with Oborevwori’s belief that public funds should directly enhance the standard of living for the people.
Looking ahead to 2027, Aniagwu assured that the Oborevwori administration would continue to integrate politics with effective governance to deliver sustained development. “Our focus is on ensuring that Delta State functions efficiently and that the impact of government is felt in the daily lives of our people,” he said. This commitment includes maintaining the momentum of infrastructure development, expanding social welfare programs, and reinforcing security measures to create a conducive environment for growth and prosperity.
The Delta State Government’s partnership with organizations like Tantita Security Services exemplifies its collaborative approach to addressing challenges in the oil sector, which remains a critical driver of Nigeria’s economy. By protecting oil infrastructure, Tantita has not only helped stabilize production but also supported the government’s broader objectives of economic diversification and sustainable development. Aniagwu’s remarks underscore the state’s appreciation for private-sector contributions and its determination to build on these partnerships to achieve long-term economic and social progress.
As Delta State continues to lead as Nigeria’s top oil-producing state, the government’s focus on prudent resource management, infrastructure investment, and inclusive governance positions it as a model for other states. The Oborevwori administration’s proactive policies and strategic collaborations are set to ensure that Delta remains a beacon of development, with its citizens reaping the benefits of a robust and forward-looking government.
