Abuja, November 25, 2025 – In a strategic move to deepen grassroots penetration of his administration’s policies, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed the Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, as the Renewed Hope Ambassador of the Federal Government. The appointment, which takes immediate effect, comes just ahead of the formal national launch of the Ward Development Programme, a flagship initiative designed to bring governance closer to the people at the ward level.
Governor Uzodimma, who currently chairs the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), will combine the ambassadorial role with the position of Director-General for Party Outreach, Engagement and Mobilisation. In this dual capacity, he is tasked with leading a nationwide campaign to explain, defend, and popularise the programmes and achievements of the Tinubu administration since it assumed office on 29 May 2023.
A statement signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr Bayo Onanuga, emphasised that Governor Uzodimma will work in close collaboration with the national leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the 20 APC governors, and critical party stakeholders to “evangelise” the Renewed Hope agenda. The statement described the appointment as a recognition of Uzodimma’s proven leadership, political sagacity, and ability to build bridges across regional and ideological divides within the ruling party.
As Renewed Hope Ambassador, the Imo State governor is expected to ensure harmony, inclusiveness, and strategic coordination at all levels of the APC. He will spearhead efforts to mobilise citizens, engage critical demographic groups, and disseminate accurate information about the administration’s milestones. All APC governors have also been designated as Ambassadors of Hope in their respective states, creating a nationwide network of high-profile advocates for the Renewed Hope message.
President Tinubu, according to the statement, has charged Governor Uzodimma and the governors to aggressively promote the tangible achievements recorded in the last 30 months. The President wants Nigerians to fully appreciate the progress made despite the inherited economic challenges and the bold, sometimes painful, reforms introduced to place the country on a sustainable growth path.
Among the highlighted successes are significant improvements in macroeconomic indicators. Inflation, which had spiralled to uncomfortable levels, has now moderated for the seventh consecutive month, dropping to 16.05 per cent in October 2025. The foreign exchange market has achieved relative stability, with the naira showing resilience against major currencies. Nigeria’s foreign reserves have climbed impressively to over $46 billion, a sharp rise from the $32 billion gross (and a net reserve of only about $4 billion) that the administration met in May 2023.
Investor confidence, the statement noted, has returned in full force. Both Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and portfolio inflows are on a steady upward trajectory, with the oil and gas sector recording multibillion-dollar commitments. The Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) is experiencing one of its longest bull runs in history, delivering substantial wealth gains to millions of investors and reinforcing the capital market as a barometer of renewed economic optimism.
Beyond the traditional oil sector, deliberate policies to diversify revenue sources are yielding fruit. The solid minerals sector is being repositioned as a major foreign exchange earner, with new licensing rounds, improved security in mining areas, and the establishment of the Nigerian Solid Minerals Corporation attracting serious local and international players.
On the social front, more than 700,000 students from low-income backgrounds have benefited from the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), enabling them to pursue higher education without financial distress. The passport issuance process, once notorious for delays and extortion, has been overhauled; Nigerians can now obtain an international passport within one week of application in most cases.
These and many other reforms, the statement stressed, are the practical manifestations of the Renewed Hope agenda. President Tinubu therefore expects Governor Uzodimma, working with his colleagues and the party structure, to take this message of hope and delivery to every ward, every local government, and every state in the federation.
Political observers see the appointment of Governor Uzodimma as a masterstroke that leverages his chairmanship of the Progressive Governors Forum and his reputation as a consensus builder within the APC. Since assuming office for his second term in January 2024, Uzodimma has positioned Imo State as one of the fastest-growing subnational economies in the South-East, with visible infrastructure upgrades and improved security.
The Renewed Hope Ambassador is expected to hit the ground running, coordinating town hall meetings, media campaigns, and stakeholder engagements that will culminate in the launch of the Ward Development Programme. The programme itself is designed to empower ward-level committees to identify and execute small-scale projects that directly impact citizens—ranging from boreholes and rural roads to primary healthcare upgrades and skills acquisition centres.
With this appointment, the Tinubu administration has signalled its determination to transform political communication from top-down rhetoric to genuine, evidence-based conversation with the Nigerian people. By placing one of the most influential governors in the country at the forefront of its public advocacy, the presidency hopes to reinforce public trust and sustain momentum for the far-reaching reforms still in the pipeline.
As Nigeria navigates the final stretch of 2025, all eyes will be on Governor Hope Uzodimma and the team of Ambassadors of Hope to tell the Renewed Hope story in a way that resonates with the aspirations and daily realities of ordinary Nigerians.
