The Agbon Traditional Council has announced plans to host its annual Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols, a cultural and spiritual event designed to celebrate the Christmas season and promote unity within Agbon Kingdom and Delta State at large.
According to an official invitation released by the Council, the event is scheduled to hold on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. prompt at the Ovie Palace, Isiokolo, in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State.
The Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, is expected to grace the occasion as Special Guest, underscoring the state government’s support for cultural heritage and faith-based initiatives that foster peace and social cohesion.
Former Governor of Delta State, Chief James Ibori, will serve as Chairman of the event, which is expected to attract traditional rulers, political leaders, clergy, and members of the public from across the state and beyond.
The homily at the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols will be delivered by Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, Founder of the Word of Life Bible Church, who is expected to share a message of hope, faith, and goodwill in the spirit of the Christmas season.
The event is being coordinated by a Planning Committee chaired by Prof. Nyerhovwo Tonukari, while Chief Emma Avworo serves as Secretary of the Agbon Traditional Council.
Organisers describe the festival as a significant annual gathering that blends Christian worship with Agbon cultural identity, providing an opportunity for reflection, thanksgiving, and renewed commitment to peace and development within the kingdom.
Members of the public have been cordially invited to attend and share in the celebration of the season.
