Asaba, Delta State – January 17, 2026 — Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has extended warm and heartfelt congratulations to the Majority Leader of the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Engr. Emmanuel Emeka Nwaobi, as he celebrates his 51st birth anniversary today, January 17.
In a statement released from Government House in Asaba by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, Governor Oborevwori praised the distinguished lawmaker for his exemplary representation of Aniocha North State Constituency and his invaluable contributions to legislative excellence in the state. Describing Nwaobi as a "lawmaker of high repute," the Governor highlighted his outstanding leadership as Chairman of the Nigerian Majority Leaders’ Forum and his role in strengthening the legislative arm of government.
Governor Oborevwori commended Nwaobi's exceptional capacity, humility, and patriotism, qualities that have consistently elevated the standard of governance and legislative performance in Delta State. “Delta State is blessed to have competent lawmakers in the class of Hon. Emeka Nwaobi,” the Governor stated, emphasizing that the lawmaker's brilliance, competence, and conduct bring immense pride to the institution. He further noted Nwaobi's proven ability to effectively manage matters of state interest, driving development and progress through his strategic leadership as House Leader.
Born on January 17, 1975, Hon. Engr. Emmanuel Emeka Nwaobi has emerged as one of Delta State's most influential and resilient political figures. An engineer by training, Nwaobi's political journey began in earnest with his election to represent Aniocha North Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly following the April 11, 2015, polls. His victory was confirmed by the Court of Appeal in Benin City on December 17, 2015, after a keenly contested legal battle that underscored his determination and support base. He was sworn in on January 19, 2016, marking the start of a tenure characterized by dedication, constituency-focused projects, and legislative impact.
Since assuming office, Nwaobi has built a formidable record of achievements in Aniocha North, a constituency comprising communities such as Issele-Uku, Ugbodu, Idumuje-Ugboko, and others. His constituency projects have transformed local infrastructure, including the construction of multiple classroom blocks in schools—such as three buildings at a school in Ugbodu, where he single-handedly contributed significantly even before his formal election. Communities have publicly commended him for these interventions, with residents noting how his efforts have improved education, health facilities, roads, and empowerment programs. In 2022, during inspections and tours, beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the visible and functional developments that have enhanced living standards and educational opportunities.
Nwaobi's leadership extended beyond his constituency when he was elected Majority Leader of the Delta State House of Assembly, a position that demands strategic coordination, consensus-building, and oversight of legislative business. In this role, he has facilitated key bills and motions, including the sponsorship and co-sponsorship of the Delta State Public Health and Hygiene Bill, 2025 (HB.42), which seeks to modernize outdated public health regulations. As House Leader, he has played pivotal roles in budget processes, such as moving the third reading of the 2026 Appropriation Law titled “Budget of Accelerating the MORE Agenda,” which increased to ₦1.729 trillion to address urgent developmental needs.
Nationally, Nwaobi's influence grew with his election as Chairman of the Nigerian Majority Leaders’ Forum, a platform uniting majority leaders from state assemblies across Nigeria. This role highlights his stature as a collaborative leader focused on innovative, responsive, and accountable governance—qualities praised during retreats and training sessions organized with partners like the African Parliamentary Resource Centre.
Governor Oborevwori's felicitations align with the administration's MORE Agenda—an acronym for Meaningful Development, Opportunities for All, Realistic Reforms, Enhanced Peace and Security—which guides the state's push for inclusive growth, infrastructure renewal, human capital development, private sector job creation, and improved governance. The agenda builds on previous efforts, emphasizing sustainable projects that benefit all Deltans, from rural empowerment to urban infrastructure. Nwaobi's legislative support has been instrumental in advancing these priorities, ensuring harmonious executive-legislative relations that accelerate progress.
In his message, the Governor extended wishes on behalf of his family, the government, and the people of Delta State: “On behalf of my family, the Government and people of Delta State, I rejoice with one of Delta’s finest lawmakers, Hon. Engr. Emeka Nwaobi, on his 51st birth anniversary. I pray that God Almighty grants you good health and many more years of dedicated service to the people of Aniocha North in particular and Delta State in general. Happy birthday.”
The birthday celebration comes at a time when Nwaobi continues to inspire through his service-oriented approach. His humility, despite high office, and his patriotism have earned admiration from colleagues, constituents, and traditional leaders across Aniocha North. Youth groups, community leaders, and party faithful have often rallied around him, recognizing his role in fostering unity and development.
As Nwaobi marks this milestone, the focus remains on continued collaboration to realize the MORE Agenda's vision of making life richer, better, and more fulfilling for Deltans. His journey from a determined candidate overcoming electoral challenges to a respected leader exemplifies resilience and commitment to public good. Congratulations continue to pour in from across the state, reflecting widespread appreciation for his contributions.
This occasion not only honors a personal milestone but also celebrates the vital role of effective legislative leadership in Nigeria's democratic process, particularly in driving state-level development amid national challenges.
