Kim Kardashian has addressed the speculation surrounding the removal of photos featuring Prince Harry and Meghan Markle from her mother Kris Jenner's Instagram account following Jenner's 70th birthday celebration in November 2025.
In an episode of her sister Khloé Kardashian’s podcast Khloé in Wonder Land, released January 29, 2026, Kim described the decision as “really innocent” and unrelated to any controversy or external pressure. She emphasised that the deletion was made out of respect for Remembrance Day (November 11), which coincided with the party date.
Kim explained that Kris Jenner and Meghan Markle have maintained a long-standing friendly relationship. Before posting any photos from the event, the family had obtained permission from Harry and Meghan to share images from the private celebration, which took place at the Beverly Hills mansion of Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez.
“After the photos went up, we realised the timing overlapped with Remembrance Day,” Kim said. “They didn’t want to be seen partying and dancing on that day.” She noted that while the couple had attended the Baby2Baby Gala earlier that evening, appearing in social media posts from a festive private gathering on Remembrance Day could have been seen as insensitive.
“So we took them down to respect Remembrance Day,” she clarified.
Kim acknowledged that the swift removal sparked widespread online speculation and conspiracy theories, including suggestions of political motives or family tensions. She expressed regret over how the situation was perceived, describing the backlash as unnecessary and overblown.
“It was made into something so crazy and ridiculous that it didn’t have to be,” she said.
The birthday party itself was a high-profile event attended by numerous celebrities. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were among the guests, and photos initially shared by Kim and Kris showed them posing together with the couple. The images were deleted within hours of posting, prompting immediate questions from fans and media outlets.
Remembrance Day, observed annually on November 11, commemorates military personnel who died in the line of duty, particularly those from the Commonwealth and allied nations. The date holds significant solemnity in the United Kingdom and other countries, with public events focused on remembrance rather than celebration.
Kris Jenner turned 70 on November 5, 2025, but the main celebration reportedly took place several days later, overlapping with the Remembrance period in some calendars due to scheduling.
Kim’s comments mark the first detailed public explanation from the Kardashian-Jenner family regarding the photo deletion. She reiterated that the move was purely a gesture of respect and not influenced by any disagreement or external controversy.
The couple’s attendance at Kris Jenner’s milestone birthday had already drawn attention, given Meghan Markle’s past public statements about royal family dynamics and the couple’s relocation to California. However, Kim stressed that the friendship between her mother and Meghan remains positive and longstanding.
No further statements have been issued by Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, or representatives for Kris Jenner as of January 29, 2026.
