Kim Scott, the ex-wife of rapper Eminem (Marshall Mathers), has been charged with two misdemeanor offenses in Michigan following an alleged incident involving a vehicle crash on Monday, February 16, 2026.
According to court records and local law enforcement reports, Scott faces charges of:
Operating a vehicle while intoxicated (OWI).
Failure to stop or identify after causing property damage.
The alleged events unfolded around 8:00 p.m. local time in the Detroit-area community where Scott resides. Authorities state that Scott left her home with her son Parker (Eminem’s adopted son) and three of Parker’s friends, reportedly heading out to go shopping.
While still on her street, Scott is alleged to have struck a parked car. Instead of stopping to exchange information or report the collision, she allegedly continued driving. She then attempted to pull into her driveway, where her Range Rover reportedly crashed into the garage door.
A neighbor who witnessed the sequence of events contacted police. When officers arrived, Scott was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash. She was discharged early Tuesday morning, February 17, 2026.
Her attorney, Michael Smith, issued a brief statement confirming that Scott has not been arrested and that he is not aware of any active arrest warrant at this time. “If a warrant is issued, she will turn herself in,” Smith said. He described the situation as “unfortunate” and characterized Scott as “a good person, a beautiful human being.”
The charges remain misdemeanors under Michigan law at this stage, meaning Scott has not yet been formally arraigned or entered a plea. Court proceedings are expected to move forward in the coming weeks.
Scott and Eminem were married in 1999, divorced in 2001, briefly remarried in January 2006, and divorced again later that year. They share one biological daughter, Hailie Jade (born 1995), and Eminem legally adopted Scott’s daughter from a previous relationship, Alaina, as well as raising their son Parker (Whitney Scott Mathers, born 2002) as his own.
Eminem has frequently referenced his tumultuous relationship with Scott in his music, most notably in tracks such as “Kim” (2000), “’97 Bonnie & Clyde” (1999), and “Cleanin’ Out My Closet” (2002), as well as in more reflective songs in later years. The couple has maintained a co-parenting relationship focused on their children, with Hailie Jade often appearing in Eminem’s recent work and public appearances.
Neither Eminem nor Hailie has publicly commented on the incident as of Tuesday evening.
The case has drawn renewed media attention due to Scott’s high-profile connection to one of the world’s best-selling recording artists. It also highlights ongoing public and legal scrutiny of driving-under-the-influence incidents involving prominent figures or their families.
Court officials have not yet released additional details such as blood-alcohol test results, witness statements, or damage estimates. The investigation remains active, and further updates are expected as the legal process unfolds.
