The Delta State Commissioner in charge of the Directorate of Riverine Infrastructure, Hon. Ebikeme Clark, has commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his sustained commitment to the development of riverine communities across the state through large-scale infrastructure projects.
Clark, in a statement issued on Monday, praised the governor for the recent approvals granted by the Delta State Executive Council for the construction of several strategic roads in riverine communities.
He described the move as a clear demonstration of the administration’s determination to open up coastal areas and stimulate economic growth.
He noted that the projects, valued at over ₦80 billion, would significantly improve access, enhance socio-economic activities and transform the rural economy of the benefiting communities.
According to him, the approved projects include the construction of the Macaulay/Mitubiri Roads in Bomadi, Bomadi Local Government Area; the construction of 2.45 kilometres of internal roads in Odimodi Community, Burutu Local Government Area; and the construction of 3.75 kilometres of internal roads in Ogulagha Community, also in Burutu Local Government Area.
Others are the construction of internal roads in Patani; the construction of the 9.463-kilometre Torugbene–Ojobo Road with a spur to Ojobo Town in Burutu Local Government Area (Section Two); and the construction of the boundary road between Ogbinbri and Ogbudugbudu communities in Egbema Kingdom, Warri North Local Government Area.
Clark also listed the rehabilitation and asphalt overlay of Oporoza township roads in Warri South-West Local Government Area; the construction of the Ogbe-Ijoh Palace Road with a spur to the proposed King’s Jetty in Ogbe-Ijoh, Warri South-West Local Government Area; the construction of internal roads in Isaba, Warri South-West Local Government Area; the construction of the Deghele–Bateren Road in Warri South-West Local Government Area; and the construction of Old Koko Road from Koko Garage to Lagos Expressway, Phase I, in Warri North Local Government Area.
The commissioner described the projects as “life-changing interventions” that would improve connectivity, ease transportation challenges and promote commerce within the riverine communities.
He assured residents of the riverine areas that Governor Oborevwori remains committed to ensuring balanced development across the state, particularly in historically underserved coastal communities.
Clark further expressed confidence that the people of the riverine communities would continue to support the governor’s administration, noting that the ongoing infrastructural transformation would translate into massive electoral support for the governor and the All Progressives Congress in the 2027 general elections.
He also urged residents of the benefiting communities to continue supporting government initiatives and to cooperate with contractors to ensure the timely completion of the projects for the overall development of the region.
