Epe, Lagos State – March 7, 2026
The Executive Chairman of Epe Local Government Area, Princess Surah Animashaun, on Friday formally swore in newly appointed Supervisory Councillors, Special Advisers and Senior Special Assistants at the council secretariat in Ita-Marin, Epe.
The ceremony, which took place in the council chamber, was attended by top political figures, traditional leaders, party stakeholders and senior council officials. In a statement issued to journalists on Saturday, Animashaun described the event as a defining moment for her administration and a renewed commitment to delivering good governance to the people of Epe.
“Today’s swearing-in is more than a ceremonial exercise; it is a solemn call to serve the good people of Epe Local Government with integrity, dedication and measurable impact,” the chairman said. “These appointees have been carefully selected based on their track record, competence and passion for community development. I charge them to hit the ground running and justify the confidence reposed in them.”
Animashaun reaffirmed that her administration remains anchored on its core philosophy of progress and vision. She listed infrastructure development, youth and women empowerment, improved healthcare delivery, education support, environmental sanitation and rural road rehabilitation as key priorities that will receive sustained attention in the coming months.
The chairman also used the occasion to thank residents of Epe for their continued support and cooperation, assuring them that the new officials would work tirelessly to bring more dividends of democracy to every ward and community in the local government area.
Speaking at the event, former Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly and member of the Lagos State Governance Advisory Council, Rt. Hon. Adeyemi Ikuforiji, commended Animashaun for her purposeful leadership style and steady focus on grassroots development. He urged the newly sworn-in officials to support the chairman’s agenda with diligence, loyalty and a genuine commitment to serving humanity.
The member representing Epe Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Wale Raji, congratulated the appointees and charged them to align their efforts with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He encouraged them to bring federal presence and intervention programmes closer to the people through effective collaboration with the local government.
Similarly, the member representing Epe Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Abiodun Tobun, applauded the chairman’s unwavering commitment to the progress of Epe and called on the new officials to work as a united team to sustain and accelerate the current pace of development.
Among the dignitaries present at the colourful ceremony were:
- Vice Chairman of Epe Local Government, Hon. Sikiru Owolomoshe
- Former member representing Epe Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Bola Gbabijo
- Former Commissioner of the Lagos State Local Government Service Commission, Hon. Ahmed Seriki
- Former Chairman of Epe Local Government, Hon. Hassan Adedoyin
- Director of Lekki Free Zone Parcel B, Hon. Tunde Ogunkoya
Other notable attendees included councilors, party leaders from the All Progressives Congress (APC), traditional chiefs, religious leaders, women and youth groups, and heads of departments in the local government.
The swearing-in ceremony is seen as a major step in strengthening the administrative machinery of Epe Local Government under Animashaun’s leadership. Political observers note that the appointments reflect a blend of experience, loyalty and fresh energy, with many of the new officials having distinguished themselves in their respective fields before being called to serve.
The chairman’s emphasis on measurable impact and inclusive governance has been widely welcomed by residents, especially in rural wards where access to basic services remains a priority. Several community leaders who attended the event expressed optimism that the new team would accelerate ongoing projects in road construction, water supply, primary healthcare, skill acquisition programmes and youth empowerment initiatives.
As Epe Local Government continues to position itself as one of the fastest-growing council areas in Lagos State—benefiting from proximity to the Lekki Free Trade Zone, Dangote Refinery corridor and expanding residential estates—the new officials face high expectations to sustain the momentum of development while addressing long-standing challenges in education, sanitation and rural infrastructure.
The swearing-in marks the beginning of a new phase in the administration’s drive to deliver on its campaign promises and leave a lasting legacy of progress and people-centred governance in Epe.
