Asaba — The Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially debunked reports alleging that aspirants for the State House of Assembly are being denied access to nomination forms. In a strongly worded statement released Thursday, the party characterized the claims as "false and misleading," asserting that the reports are a calculated attempt by internal and external detractors to sow discord within the party’s ranks.
The rebuttal, issued by the State Publicity Secretary, Valentine Onojeghuo, described the allegations as politically motivated fabrications intended to undermine the party’s internal democratic processes. The leadership maintained that at no point has the party authorized the exclusion of any qualified aspirant from participating in the upcoming primary elections.
"The reports are deliberate attempts to disrupt party unity and create a false narrative of chaos where none exists," the statement read. "The APC leadership in Delta State remains committed to an inclusive and transparent process that adheres strictly to the guidelines set forth by our national headquarters."
To clarify the situation at the party’s administrative hub, the APC confirmed that the official committee responsible for the sale and administration of forms is fully operational at the state secretariat. The party emphasized that the committee has been instructed to attend to all interested aspirants without bias, ensuring that every individual who meets the criteria established by the National Working Committee is granted the opportunity to purchase the necessary documents.
The party’s leadership further warned that the misinformation appears to be the work of individuals prioritized by personal ambition rather than the collective progress of the APC. According to the statement, such claims are not only baseless but harmful to the morale and confidence of the general membership. The APC vowed not to tolerate any attempts to manipulate the leadership or derail the party’s strategic preparations for the State House of Assembly elections.
In a bid to ensure all legitimate aspirants are accommodated, the party disclosed that the sale of nomination forms is ongoing and will remain open until May 4, 2026. This window aligns with the party’s revised electoral timetable, providing ample time for all interested candidates to complete their filings. Aspirants were urged to disregard the "malicious" rumors and proceed directly to the secretariat to finalize their documentation within the stipulated period.
Reiterating its commitment to a credible and democratic nomination exercise, the Delta APC called on its members and the general public to verify information through official party channels only. By dismissing these "disruptive claims," the party hopes to refocus its energy on building a united front ahead of the general polls.
The statement concluded with an expression of gratitude toward the party’s loyal base, assuring supporters that the leadership remains steadfast in its mission to build a stronger, more cohesive APC in Delta State. As the May 4 deadline approaches, the party secretariat expects an uptick in activity, reaffirming its stance that the doors remain open to all who wish to serve under the party’s banner.
