Leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State have unanimously endorsed Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Sheriff Oborevwori, Ede Dafinone, and Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, along with other party candidates, for a second term in office ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement was announced during a Unity and Reunification Rally held on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at Oghara Township Stadium. The event attracted a large turnout of party leaders, stakeholders, and grassroots supporters, marking what many described as a significant step toward consolidating peace and unity within the party structure in the area.
The rally, which doubled as a celebration of reconciliation among previously divided factions, was characterized by strong declarations of loyalty, calls for unity, and expressions of confidence in the current leadership at both state and federal levels.
Moving the motion for endorsement, former member of the House of Representatives, Halims Agoda, emphasized the need for continuity in governance. He cited what he described as visible achievements by both the President and the Delta State Governor, arguing that their performance justifies their adoption as sole candidates for the next electoral cycle.
Agoda described Delta State as “a construction site,” referencing ongoing infrastructural development across various sectors. He highlighted improvements in healthcare delivery, advancements in the education sector, and sustained investments in human capital development as key indicators of progress under the current administration.
“It is not fair to change a winning team,” Agoda declared, drawing loud applause from the crowd. He added that the leadership style of Governor Oborevwori aligns with the constitutional responsibility of government to ensure the security and welfare of citizens.
By what he described as the collective authority of APC leaders and members across Ethiope West, Agoda formally moved the motion endorsing President Tinubu, Governor Oborevwori, Senator Dafinone, Hon. Ibori-Suenu, and other party representatives as sole candidates for the 2027 elections.
The motion was seconded by Engr. Chief Emmanuel Ighomena, who reiterated the importance of unity and continuity in achieving electoral success. He stressed that internal cohesion remains critical to strengthening the party’s chances in future contests, particularly in a politically competitive state like Delta.
Representing the Governor at the event, Chief Paulinus Akpeki described the rally as both symbolic and historic. According to him, the gathering reflected deliberate reconciliation efforts and a renewed commitment among party stakeholders to work collectively toward shared political goals.
Akpeki credited Governor Oborevwori’s leadership for fostering peace and restoring unity within Ethiope West and across Delta State. He noted that the governor’s approach to governance and party management has helped bridge divisions and rebuild trust among members.
“What we are witnessing today is not by chance,” Akpeki said. “It is the result of deliberate effort and genuine concern for the future of our party. The time for division is over. Ethiope West is too important to be divided—we must move forward together as one united family.”
Also speaking at the rally, Hon. Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu described the event as a historic turning point, signaling what she called the rebirth of a united political family. She called on members to embrace genuine reconciliation and move beyond past grievances that had previously affected the party’s cohesion.
“This is not cosmetic reconciliation,” she stated. “This is a call for true unity. We must forgive, rebuild trust, and work together. Only God can divide us now—no one else can.”
In his remarks, Chief Ighoyota Amori characterized the rally as a defining moment in the political evolution of Ethiope West. He noted that the transition from internal division to unity would significantly strengthen the APC’s position ahead of future elections.
Amori emphasized that unity is not only necessary for electoral success but also for effective governance and representation, urging members to remain committed to the ideals of the party.
Several other stakeholders who addressed the gathering echoed similar sentiments, underscoring the importance of sustaining the newfound unity and intensifying grassroots mobilization. Among them were Hon. Christian Onogba, Chief Champion Kpategi, Chief Dr. Wilson Omene, Hon. Hope Abijor, and Hon. Blessing Achioja, all of whom called for continued collaboration and discipline within party ranks.
In a passionate address, Chief John Nani cautioned members against using social media as a tool for spreading division and misinformation. He warned that such actions could undermine the progress made in reconciling aggrieved factions within the party.
“As we leave here, those who thrive on spreading discord must stop,” Nani said. “We are one family now. Follow your leaders with sincerity and do not sow seeds of division.”
The rally concluded on a strong note of solidarity, with party leaders and supporters reaffirming their commitment to unity, discipline, and collective political success. The unanimous endorsement of President Tinubu, Governor Oborevwori, Senator Dafinone, and other APC candidates was seen as a clear demonstration of renewed confidence in their leadership.
Observers note that the development may have broader implications for the APC’s political strategy in Delta State, particularly as preparations gradually begin for the 2027 general elections. The emphasis on unity and continuity is expected to play a central role in the party’s efforts to consolidate its influence and improve its electoral prospects in the state.
The Ethiope West rally, therefore, not only symbolized reconciliation but also signaled the beginning of early political alignments that could shape the dynamics of the next election cycle in Delta State and beyond.
