The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, says Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s emergence as the sole APC governorship candidate for 2027 is what happens when performance meets politics.
Rt. Hon. Guwor who stated this on Thursday after casting his vote at the APC governorship primary in Gbaramatu Ward 4, described the development as a coronation earned on the ground, not in a backroom.
The Speaker whose remarks is contained in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Nkem Nwaeke, said what was witnessed in Delta State was not just a primary, but a coronation of performance.
According to him, Rt. Hon. Oborevwori’s emergence is a reward for three years of exceptional service, visible projects, and people-centered governance across the state.
Guwor, who is the Chairman Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria, noted that the governor’s decision to lead Delta into the All Progressives Congress has consolidated that progress under one political family.
He maintained that Oborevwori’s second term would be top-notch, as the move to the APC has united the state’s political leadership and created a platform for seamless delivery of projects without partisan friction.
“The overwhelming support for His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, at the primaries reflected the confidence of party faithful in the administration’s track record.
“In the last three years, the administration has demonstrated what it means to govern with focus and sincerity. The results speak for themselves. That is why the APC has spoken with one voice”, Guwor stated.
On his own affirmation in Warri South-West on Wednesday, the Speaker said the process was a clear signal from the grassroots that the people want continuity and accountable representation.
He described the exercise as peaceful, orderly, and a mandate to double down on service delivery across communities in Warri South-West Constituency.
“My affirmation 24 hours ago was also about the will of our people and the unity of our party in Warri South-West. Party faithful across the constituency came out and spoke clearly. It is a call for more service with humility and accountability.
“What is happening across the state shows that Deltans want continuity, stability, and development. For us in Warri South-West, we will always justify that trust with results”, Guwor noted.
The Speaker urged APC members to consolidate the unity displayed during the primaries and take the message of progress to every ward ahead of 2027.
He explained that the governor has laid the foundation and that the task before APC faithful is to protect it and expand it, saying “Delta is stronger when we speak with one voice, and that is what we have done”.
