Nigerian global music stars Burna Boy, Asake, and Tems have officially secured nominations for the upcoming 2026 BET Awards, scheduled to take place in Los Angeles on June 28. The announcement highlights the continued dominance and international recognition of the Nigerian music industry on the global stage.
Tems emerged as one of the most recognized Nigerian artists for this year's edition, landing multiple nominations across several major categories. The singer-songwriter was nominated for Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, alongside a nod in the prestigious BET Her Award category for her hit song, First. She also picked up a nomination for the Viewers’ Choice Award for Raindance, her chart-topping collaboration with British rapper Dave.
Asake also earned a spot on the nomination list, securing a recognition in the Best Group category following a highly successful collaborative project and consistent chart dominance over the past year.
Grammy Award-winner Burna Boy was nominated in the Best Collaboration category, recognized for his standout feature on American rapper Gunna’s hit track, WGFT.
The annual event, which celebrates achievements in entertainment and honors Black excellence across music, acting, and sports, will once again provide a major international platform for African artists to showcase their impact on global pop culture.
