The Chairman of Uvwie Local Government Area, Hon. Chief Anthony Onoriode Ofoni JP, has thrown his weight behind the endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for re-election by Public Sector Participants (PSP) in Waste Management during the group’s 2026 state convention held in Uvwie Local Government Area.
The event, which attracted a large turnout of waste management operators and stakeholders from across Delta State, also featured a peaceful rally involving over 4,000 participants who publicly declared their support for the continuation of the administrations of President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori.
Chief Ofoni, widely described by supporters as a proactive and development-driven council chairman, expressed appreciation to the PSP waste managers for what he called their bold show of solidarity and confidence in the leadership of both President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori.
Represented at the event by the Vice Chairman of Uvwie Local Government Council, Hon. Andrew Agagbo, the council chairman commended the group for recognizing what he described as the impactful achievements recorded by both leaders during their first terms in office.
According to him, the endorsement was a reflection of the people’s appreciation for purposeful leadership and visible development initiatives that have positively affected citizens at both the national and state levels.
Chief Ofoni noted that Governor Oborevwori’s administration had continued to implement people-oriented projects across Delta State through the MORE Agenda, while President Tinubu was steadily driving national reforms aimed at economic recovery and infrastructural development.
He said the decision by the PSP waste managers to openly identify with both leaders demonstrated the confidence various sectors of society have in their capacity to sustain development and improve governance.
The Uvwie council chairman, who had earlier assured the waste management operators of the support and cooperation of residents during the convention and rally, urged members of the public to cooperate with participants throughout the duration of the event.
He also called on the waste managers to conduct themselves peacefully and responsibly while carrying out their activities in the local government area.

Speaking during the convention, the Delta State Chairman of Public Sector Participants in Waste Management, Mr. Lucky Adjekuko, praised Chief Ofoni for his unwavering support towards the successful hosting of the convention in Uvwie.
Adjekuko described the Uvwie council chairman as a dependable and accessible leader whose commitment to environmental sanitation and public health had continued to inspire waste management operators in the area.
According to him, the collaborative relationship between the Uvwie Local Government Council and PSP operators has significantly contributed to keeping the area clean, healthy, and environmentally friendly.
He noted that Chief Ofoni’s passion for sanitation and environmental sustainability remained a major source of motivation for the waste managers, adding that his administration had consistently demonstrated concern for the wellbeing of residents through policies that encourage cleanliness and proper waste disposal.
The PSP chairman also used the occasion to commend Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for his infrastructural development efforts and commitment to environmental management across the state.
He specifically acknowledged the role of the Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Tommy Ejiro Jamani, in supporting initiatives aimed at promoting a cleaner and greener Delta State.

The PSP chairman further declared the group’s full support for the re-election bids of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori in future elections.
