The Bahrain Defense Force announced on Saturday that it successfully intercepted and destroyed several aerial attacks launched by Iran.
In a statement shared on the social media platform X, the General Command affirmed that all its weapons and units are operating at the highest levels of readiness and remain on high alert to protect Bahraini territory. The military command strongly condemned the escalation, noting that the deliberate use of missiles and drones to target civilians and private property constitutes a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law.
The development comes amid sharply heightened tensions across the Middle East, characterized by recent United States strikes on Iran and subsequent retaliatory attacks by Tehran against regional countries, including Bahrain, which hosts significant US military assets.
This latest exchange of fire between Washington and Tehran occurs despite a Pakistan-brokered memorandum of understanding signed in June, which was intended to end the hostilities and establish a path toward a lasting peace agreement.
