Senator Ede Dafinone, representing Delta Central Senatorial District, has congratulated two distinguished legal practitioners from Delta State, Chief Oghenero Okoro and Mrs. Gladys Aghogho Okpomor, following their election into key national leadership positions in the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).
In a congratulatory message, Senator Dafinone described the emergence of Chief Okoro as First Vice President of the Nigerian Bar Association and Mrs. Okpomor as Assistant General Secretary of the association as a significant achievement for the Urhobo Nation, Delta State, and Nigeria at large.
The senator said their victories reflected years of commitment to the legal profession, professionalism, and exemplary leadership, adding that their elections were well deserved.
“I heartily congratulate two exceptional legal practitioners and worthy ambassadors of the Urhobo Nation, Chief Oghenero Okoro, on his election as First Vice President of the Nigerian Bar Association, and Mrs. Gladys Aghogho Okpomor, on her election as Assistant General Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association. Your emergence into these distinguished national offices is a proud moment for the Urhobo Nation, Delta State, and indeed every Nigerian who believes in merit, excellence, and service,” he stated.
Dafinone noted that both legal practitioners had built outstanding careers marked by dedication and integrity. He praised Chief Okoro's distinguished tenure as former Chairman of the NBA Warri Branch and commended Mrs. Okpomor for her impactful service as former Assistant General Secretary of the Young Lawyers Forum, Minna Branch.
According to the senator, their election into national offices did not come as a surprise but was a fitting recognition of years of diligence, competence, and commitment to the advancement of the legal profession.
He further described their success as a reflection of the resilience, excellence, and determination associated with the Urhobo people, noting that they have continued to distinguish themselves in various fields of endeavour.
As they prepare to assume their new responsibilities, Senator Dafinone urged the newly elected officials to deploy their wealth of experience in strengthening the Nigerian Bar Association and advancing the ideals of justice, constitutional democracy, and the rule of law.
He expressed confidence that Chief Okoro and Mrs. Okpomor would uphold the highest ethical standards, promote judicial independence, and contribute meaningfully to reforms that would strengthen Nigeria's justice system and restore greater public confidence in the legal profession.
The lawmaker also encouraged them to provide purposeful leadership that would further enhance the reputation of the NBA as a foremost professional body committed to the protection of justice and the rule of law.
