The Executive Chairman of Uvwie Local Government Council, Hon. Chief Anthony Onoriode Ofoni (JP), on Sunday joined leaders, stakeholders and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta Central Senatorial District at a strategic stakeholders' meeting where the party unanimously endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, Senator Ede Dafinone and all other APC candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The strategic meeting, held at the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI) Conference Centre, Effurun, brought together party stalwarts, elected officials, political office holders and grassroots leaders to chart a united course for the party's electoral success in 2027.
The endorsement of the party's candidates followed a motion moved by the APC founding leader, Chief O'Tega Emerhor, and seconded by Hon. Halims Agoda. The motion, which received overwhelming support from stakeholders, was unanimously adopted through a voice vote conducted by the Delta State APC Chairman, Chief Solomon Arenyeka.
Speaking during the meeting, Chief Arenyeka explained that the stakeholders' engagements across the three senatorial districts were initiated by the State Working Committee to consolidate party structures, strengthen internal cohesion and deepen grassroots mobilisation ahead of the forthcoming general elections.
He commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his leadership in fostering unity within the APC across Delta State, noting that the governor had continued to engage party members across the state, reconcile differences and strengthen the party's foundation. He also welcomed new members who recently joined the APC from other political parties and assured them of equal opportunities within the party.
Earlier, the Chairman of APC in Delta Central Senatorial District, Chief Paulinus Akpeki, described Governor Oborevwori's emergence as the party's governorship candidate as a reflection of the confidence reposed in his leadership and performance. He urged members to put the primary elections behind them, embrace reconciliation and work together for the collective success of the APC.
According to him, the successful conduct of the party's congresses and primaries further demonstrated the APC's commitment to internal democracy and positioned the party for victory in the 2027 elections.
Also addressing stakeholders, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Chief Festus Keyamo (SAN), congratulated all candidates who emerged from the party's primaries and commended those who did not secure tickets for remaining committed to the APC.
He urged members to remain united and continue engaging the electorate, stressing that the reforms of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration were beginning to yield positive economic outcomes through increased government revenue, infrastructure development, investment and job creation.
Representing Delta Central Senatorial District, Senator Ede Dafinone expressed appreciation to party leaders and members for their confidence and support. He pledged to facilitate more employment opportunities, youth empowerment programmes and people-oriented projects if re-elected.
Leaders from the three federal constituencies in Delta Central, including Chief Solomon Ighrakpata, Senator Ighoyota Amori and Olorogun John Oguma, reaffirmed their commitment to delivering victory for all APC candidates, assuring stakeholders that the party remained united across the district.
Speaking on behalf of women in Delta Central, Hon. Stella Okotete, Executive Director of Business Development at NEXIM Bank, assured the party leadership that women would play a strategic role in delivering massive support for the APC during the 2027 general elections. She also advocated greater inclusion and empowerment of women and youths.
The Chairman of the Delta State chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Hon. Isaiah Esiovwa, reaffirmed the commitment of council chairmen across Delta Central to mobilising grassroots support for the APC and ensuring victory for all the party's candidates.
The APC Chairman in Okpe Local Government Area, speaking on behalf of local government party chairmen, also pledged sustained reconciliation efforts, stronger party unity and intensified mobilisation across the grassroots.
The Executive Chairman of Uvwie Local Government Council, Hon. The meeting ended with a renewed call on party faithful to remain united, intensify voter mobilisation and continue supporting the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the M.O.R.E. Agenda of Governor Sheriff Francis Oborevwori.
