The Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI has executed a precision airstrike targeting a suspected Islamic State West Africa Province hideout in the Southern Lake Chad region, resulting in the elimination of several fighters during a late-night operation in Borno State.
The counter-insurgency operation was reported by security analyst Zagazola Makama following sustained intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions that identified significant insurgent movement around Arenna in the Marte Local Government Area.
According to the report, surveillance aircraft tracked a convoy of approximately 50 motorcycles linked to the terrorist group prior to initiating the strike at approximately 10:35 pm on July 23.
A post-operation Battle Damage Assessment confirmed that all insurgents inside the primary targeted facility were neutralized, along with three additional fighters stationed outside the structure, while three surviving individuals were observed fleeing the vicinity.
Military sources noted that the surveillance aircraft remained over the location following the bombardment to monitor for potential regrouping attempts and execute follow-up engagements as required.
The successful strike forms part of a broader, intelligence-driven air interdiction campaign by Operation HADIN KAI aimed at dismantling terrorist strongholds, disrupting logistics networks, and denying freedom of movement to hostile elements operating across the Lake Chad basin.
