Dennis Osadebay University (DOU), Asaba, is set to establish a Business School following the completion of the mandate of the Committee constituted to develop the academic and operational framework for the institution.
The Committee, chaired by Professor Kelly-Bryan Ovie Ejumudo, submitted its report to the Vice Chancellor, Professor Samuel Ovuete Aghalino, signalling a major step towards the commencement of the proposed School.
In its report, the Committee developed curricula for postgraduate programmes leading to Graduate Diploma, Master’s, Executive Master’s and Doctoral degrees across seven disciplines, including Accounting, Banking and Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Human Resource Management and Public Administration.
The Committee also developed an Executive Certificate Programme, reviewed the proposed fee structure and prepared a five-year financial projection to provide a sustainable financial framework for the operation of the Business School.
Ejumudo expressed optimism that the proposed School would broaden DOU’s postgraduate offerings and strengthen the University’s position in business and management education.
According to him, the Business School would provide a platform for professionals, entrepreneurs, administrators and other stakeholders to acquire advanced knowledge and competencies needed to respond effectively to the demands of a rapidly changing economy.
The initiative is expected to further expand access to specialised postgraduate and executive education while enhancing the University’s contribution to human capital development and professional capacity building.
With the completion of the Committee’s assignment and the submission of its recommendations to the University management, attention is now expected to shift to the necessary approvals and other processes for the take-off of the DOU Business School.
