The Philippines on Monday reaffirmed its solidarity with Saudi Arabia following attacks by Yemen’s Houthi group, describing the incidents as a grave threat to regional peace and stability and calling for an immediate end to hostilities.
In a government statement, Manila reiterated its support for Saudi Arabia in safeguarding its nationals and residents, including nearly one million Filipinos living and working in the kingdom.
The Philippine government also expressed its deepest condolences to the families of those killed in the attacks across several areas of Saudi Arabia and wished those injured a speedy recovery.
According to the statement, at least seven Filipino workers were wounded in the attacks, with three reported to be in critical condition.
Manila urged all parties involved to halt hostilities and pursue a peaceful resolution through dialogue and diplomatic engagement, emphasizing the need to protect civilians and prevent further escalation.
The government also advised Filipinos residing in Saudi Arabia to comply with instructions issued by Saudi authorities and maintain contact with the Philippine Embassy for updates and assistance.
The statement underscores the Philippines’ concern over the safety of its large expatriate community in Saudi Arabia, as well as its call for diplomatic efforts to restore regional stability.
