It is so unfortunate that the show of many modern day preachers does not resemble what we notice in the Man of Calvary. While many today emphasis and advertise miracles to prop up their church attendance, Jesus’ teachings, miracles, etc. were all motivated by compassion. This Christian character must become a motivating force for us as we seek to live for our Saviour and bring others to Him. We must reach others who do not yet know Him motivated by compassion for the lost. Pastors and all who have the opportunity to preach or teach others must do so out of compassion for souls, not for money or any other personal gains.
It is interesting that Jesus did not send them away until He had fed them.
In the same way, determine that any one who you have a meaningful conversation with today cannot be sent “away” without having been fed with the gospel of Christ. A heart motivated by compassion will naturally be committed to reaching others with the message of salvation. I will admonish you to check your life over again. When was the last time you spoke to someone about Christ? The length of time may be one indication how far you have walked away from compassion for those without Christ.
