Ted Nugent recently posted a photo of himself, Kid
Rock and a cougar that Rock allegedly killed on a recent hunting trip.
That photo has drawn great criticism from animal rights activists and
fans across the globe.
The photo is from a hunting trip that Rock took last week with Nugent. Nugent shared the photo earlier this week on his Facebook page, reports MSN.
Nugent, who is a board member of the National Rifle Association, not only posted the photo, but bragged about Rock’s trophy, all of which insulted and angered animal rights supporters.
“And what a grand conservation New Year it is! HAIL my MotorCity boy KidRock for saving all those muledeer elk & livestock by whacking this magnificent mountain lion. I can hear the braindead squawkers already with their obscene denial that killing lions is wrong. Its legal its necessary its good its beneficial it’s a damn riot! And these lovely pigwhackers did same on the TX swine while young Rachael Byrd arrowed this fine Oryx with the Bruce Cull tribe! Praise the mighty life giving renewable protein/sport/trophy/FUN! 2015 be good good year so far!” Nugent posted.
Within minutes of the photo being posted on the social network, it received a flood of negative comments. Facebook users then began sharing the photo with the caption ‘Shame On You, reports The Huffington Post.
One Facebook user posted, “So who eats cat, the other white meat? No one so let’s call it what it is a trophy hunt and most hunters do not like that. Its a simple rule in the South, only shoot what you are going to eat!”
“The Kid should go hunting with Dick Cheney,” another user posted.
Kid Rock’s new album First Kiss is due out next month, and it is too early to tell if the photo will hurt his record sales or his upcoming tour.
So far, Kid Rock has not publicly addressed the photo or the response to it. Rock has stated in the past he rarely uses social networks.
“I don’t FaceTweet or whatever people do. I understand that I’m the old guy now. I turn on my computer and look at porn a little bit, see what’s going on in the news, but that’s about it. I’m comfortable with that,” he recently told the Guardian.
He also spoke to the Guardian about guns saying, “I’m always buying more guns. I have everything from a Civil War cannon to an MP5 machine gun and old police guns. If someone invades your house, yeah, you can shoot them. I don’t think crazy people should have guns.”
