Kosofe Women Embrace the Future as Hon. Kafilat Ogbara Launches Free Tech Training for 300 Women
In a landmark effort to bridge the digital divide and empower women in her constituency, Honourable Kafilat Ogbara, Member of the Federal House of Representatives for Kosofe Federal Constituency, has launched a free technology training program for 300 women, in partnership with New Horizons Nigeria.
The initiative, unveiled at the New Horizons Nigeria office, marks a significant step in community-driven digital inclusion. The event drew hundreds of women from across Kosofe, many of whom were experiencing formal tech education for the first time. It also aligned with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly in fostering women’s empowerment through knowledge and skills acquisition.
Hon. Ogbara, known for her steadfast dedication to grassroots development, addressed the participants with words of inspiration. “The future is digital, and women must not be left behind,” she stated. “This program is about more than just learning digital skills—it’s about unlocking your full potential and creating new paths for economic and personal growth.”
The training will equip beneficiaries with foundational and practical tech skills, opening up new opportunities in areas such as freelancing, digital entrepreneurship, and remote employment.
Also speaking at the launch was the Managing Director of New Horizons Nigeria, who commended Hon. Ogbara for her forward-thinking leadership. He highlighted her recent sponsorship of ICT training for youths in Magodo as a trailblazing initiative. “This is the first time we’re seeing this scale of commitment to digital empowerment in this constituency,” he said. “It’s setting a powerful precedent.”
Beneficiaries were encouraged to fully embrace the training, with facilitators emphasizing the life-changing economic potential of digital literacy in today’s job market.
The atmosphere was electric with hope and gratitude. Many participants expressed their excitement and optimism. “I never imagined I’d have the chance to learn tech,” said one attendee. “This opportunity has given me and my family a fresh start.”
This initiative is more than a training program—it’s a movement toward digital equity and a testament to the rising strength of women in Kosofe. With leaders like Hon. Kafilat Ogbara at the helm, the future is looking brighter—and more connected—than ever before.
