In a passionate show of appreciation for Nigeria’s uniformed personnel, Project Unifeed, a growing social impact initiative, celebrated its fifth anniversary on May 1st—International Workers’ Day—by expanding its reach to four states: Lagos, Abuja, Anambra, and Oyo.

Launched in 2021 by renowned compere and media personality, Mojibade Sosanya, popularly known as MojibadeShow, Project Unifeed is a civic movement that honours the sacrifices of uniformed workers, including police officers, traffic wardens, and road safety officials, who ensure public order and safety across the country.

This year’s anniversary marked the largest edition yet, impacting over 1,000 uniformed workers through welfare packages, street interactions, and uplifting messages delivered directly at their duty posts.

“Uniformed workers are often the unseen backbone of society. This project is our way of saying, ‘We see you, we appreciate you, and we value your service,’” said Mojibade, founder and lead visionary of Project Unifeed.

The idea for Project Unifeed was sparked during a routine drive, when Mojibade witnessed an elderly LASTMA officer courageously managing heavy traffic under the scorching sun. The moment, she recalled, was a turning point.

“That day, God planted the seed. I realised how much these officers do and how little they’re appreciated. I knew I had to do something to honour them.”

Since then, Project Unifeed has evolved into a nationwide volunteer-driven effort promoting compassion, gratitude, and human connection. Every May 1st, volunteers take to the streets with gift boxes, motivational notes, and words of encouragement—symbolising a shift toward more empathetic engagement with uniformed personnel.

“Our goal is to move beyond fear and build a society where citizens and uniformed officers understand and support each other,” Mojibade added.

This year’s outreach featured roadside games, community interactions, and celebratory activities in high-traffic areas, thanks to growing volunteer support and sponsorships from individuals and corporate partners.

The choice of Lagos, Abuja, Anambra, and Oyo was strategic, Mojibade noted, reflecting Nigeria’s diversity: Lagos as the economic hub, Abuja as the federal capital, Anambra representing the East, and Oyo symbolising the South-West.

Among notable supporters present at this year’s events were actor and content creator Ariyiike Dimplez Owolagba; Bisola Amuda, Project Manager for MojibadeShow; Mandy Donnett, Brand Manager; Temitope Richard Banjo, Leadership Consultant; Vivian Okeke, Lekki Coordinator; and Simileoluwa Fayombo, CEO of Rejig Wellness.

With rising interest and support, Mojibade affirmed that Project Unifeed aims to expand to even more states in the next edition.

“We’ve come a long way from our first outreach. Now, officers recognise us, welcome us, and even look forward to our visits. This is just the beginning.”
