Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has urged the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholders to allocate the party’s presidential ticket to the southern region for the 2027 elections.
Wike made this appeal on Monday while presenting a communiqué following a meeting of key party stakeholders, known as the ‘Concerned Stakeholders of the PDP.’
“In the interest of fairness, inclusion, adherence to federal character principles, and respect for our party constitution, the PDP must clearly announce that its presidential candidate for the 2027 elections will come from the South, especially after the uninterrupted years of Northern leadership under President Muhammadu Buhari,” the communiqué stated.
Attendees at the meeting included former governors Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), Samuel Ortom (Benue), and Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), along with other national stakeholders.
Among those present were the National Secretary of the PDP, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, former Senate Minority Leader Philip Aduda, as well as current and former federal and state lawmakers, along with various zonal and state party executives.
